CrawlSpider

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information CrawlSpider (a product of InfoCaptor) collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. CrawlSpider is a website crawling and AI-visibility monitoring tool: it inspects your site and measures how search engines and AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity mention, rank, and describe your brand compared with your competitors.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: your email address and login credentials. CrawlSpider uses a single sign-in shared across InfoCaptor's products; if you sign in with Google we receive your email address and basic profile from Google.
  • Free checker submissions: when you run the free AI Visibility Checker you provide a brand name, and optionally a website, industry or category, and a city/region/country. An email address is required to see the full breakdown. We also record the request's IP address to rate-limit abuse. This submission is stored so we can send you the report and follow up about CrawlSpider; it is not added to any customer account until you create one.
  • Project data you enter: the brand names, competitor names, websites, and the prompts (questions) you configure for monitoring. These are free-text fields — please don't put confidential or sensitive personal information in them.
  • Monitoring results: the responses returned by AI assistants and search engines for your prompts, and the metrics we derive from them (visibility, rank, sentiment, competitor mentions), stored as a history so you can see trends over time.
  • Local storage: your login token, the currently selected brand, and small UI preferences are kept in your browser's local storage so the app works smoothly. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
  • Billing information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We receive confirmation of your plan and status but do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Basic technical data: standard web-server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) and, where enabled, privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage.

2. How We Use Information

We use this information to operate the Service: signing you in, running crawls and prompt scans, storing and charting the results, processing billing where applicable, sending the reports you request, responding to support requests, preventing abuse, and improving reliability. We may email you about your account, your reports, and material changes to the Service.

3. AI Providers and Search Engines

Measuring AI visibility requires sending your prompts — which typically contain your brand name, category, and competitor names — to third-party AI providers (which today include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Perplexity) and, for search-based checks, to search engines. Those providers process the request under their own terms and may retain it for their own abuse-monitoring per their policies. Do not include information in a prompt that you would not want sent to those providers. We do not send your billing details or login credentials to any AI provider.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

Besides the AI providers and search engines above, we rely on infrastructure providers to host the Service, on Amazon SES to deliver transactional email, and on Stripe to process payments. Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms and only as needed to provide its service to us.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers described above, as necessary to operate the Service, or if required by law or to protect our rights.

6. Data Retention

Account information and monitoring history are retained while your account is active. Free-checker submissions are retained so we can send the report and contact you about CrawlSpider, and are deleted on request. You may request deletion of your account and its data at any time (see Contact below); some records may be retained where required for legal or accounting purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights and we will respond as required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

CrawlSpider is a business tool, is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no system is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your login credentials confidential.

10. International Users

CrawlSpider is operated from the United States and uses providers located there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by notice in the app.
